NUS approached us to design and coordinate their SG50 exhibition consisting of projects and exhibitions by various faculty members. They required a branding that was simple enough to be utilised by the different projects and clear enough to be read as one collective effort by the school.
Research Summary, Analysis and Proposed Framework
The research was premised on finding the unifying element that is a balance between cohesiveness and flexibility to fit multiple types of content. Identifying the type of target audience led to the conclusion of type of collaterals to represent the overarching exhibition. The structures designed for the overall exhibition is targeted at the brief requirement of a mobile exhibition that can be easily changed, cost effective and set up in various locations.
To unify the different types of content, a colour palette that represented the identity of the school was chosen. Looking into Architecture education, the most identifiable colours are that of our models – grey of the greyboard, white of the Bristol board and brown of bass wood or corrugated board. The colour palette is then applied to the website, collaterals and exhibition.
The collateral was a set of postcards packaged into a small brown envelope as a take away for visitors to the exhibition. A key image was chosen to represent the project along with some short text for an overview of each research project. This allowed for quick understanding of the type of projects undertaken by the school by its various tutors.
The website was done in a similar manner, with the key objective of and introduction of the type of works undertaken by the school, and catered for flexibility in the manner which each project requires to showcase their works.
